Course Code: ARTS2862

This course is welcome to all levels. Anyone can take these courses if interested. Beginner-level instruction will be provided for basic skills while more advanced users can work on more complex projects with instructor assistance.
This workshop will start by learning some basic knife safety and carving techniques. You will receive a precut block-style spoon blank from green wood. Straight and curved woodcarving knives will be used with the option to use a gouge or hook knife to hollow the bowl. Throughout the workshop you will learn transferable knife grips to make other woodcarvings. There will be a discussion about material selection and how to make your own spoon blanks. You will have the option to sand your spoons before you take them home. Spoons will need to dry before applying the supplied tung oil.
