The transition to Fleming College was so easy for me because the International Student Services team is so supportive, right from the beginning. I’ve been to a few places in Canada, but Peterborough is very beautiful and so friendly. I love it here. My curriculum is designed to get me ready for the workforce. In fact, my last semester will be an internship. I’m so glad I chose Fleming College. Reshma Suresh - Biotechnology Advanced Program ‘23
I chose Fleming’s program, because it has a strong record of employment after graduation. I wanted to join law enforcement, but I soon realized the business world of customs had a lot to offer as well. A highlight for me was learning about Canada’s import/export processes, conflict management, and personality types. After I graduated my placement turned into a career at a customs brokerage where I was promoted several times. I am now a Border Services Officer (BSO) with the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA). Fleming College’s Customs Border Services Program helped me build my toolkit of skills to be successful first in the business world and now in law enforcement Steven Verkuyl - Customs Border Services '14
Fleming's Biotechnology Advanced program gave me pretty much every single skill and experience I needed for my career as Laboratory Technician. Coming out of the program you are able to have about 800 or so hours of hands on in-lab experience. And no other college could match the 600 hour placement portion of the program. I did my entire placement with the Canadian Food Inspection Agency in Ottawa. The last 3 months of my placement I spent in the Federal Surge Laboratory that tests COVID-19 samples. Here I had the opportunity to help with the setup of a brand new lab, alongside learning their testing methods. I am extremely thankful that I was hired on as a full time employee during my placement. Kyla Edgas - Biotechnology Advanced '21
I chose this program because I have always been an ally of people struggling with Mental Health and Addictions and I knew my passion could be turned into helping others. I was continually supported both educationally and personally. I was allowed to be vulnerable and really allowed to challenge myself to grow. The faculty have a tremendous passion for fostering growth for future professionals in the field of Human Services. My placement experience with Elizabeth Fry Society was incredible. It's a place that would allow me to grow and develop and would support me every step of the way. I felt like I had found my people. Claire Belding - Mental Health and Addictions Worker
I have had an unforgettable 2 years. All the courses gave me with not only remarkable hands-on experiences but also essential preparations to apply to the real world. And without my professors and peers I would not be where I am today. The more I dive into this growing field in the pharmaceutical industry, the more passionate I become. I am now a Regulated Healthcare Professional, but this is just the start of my journey. Tram Cao - International student, Vietnam, Pharmacy Technician '20
