SKILLSMARKER is a tool created to assess an individual’s skill levels in reading, writing, and numeracy – essential skills needed for work and further education. This test determines if you are eligible for direct entry into your college program of interest.
A Fleming Student Advisor can provide you with information about Academic Upgrading and the SKILLSMARKER Assessment process.
If your test score indicates that you require preparatory courses before entry to college, you can arrange enrolment with the Student Advisor. Our courses are offered on a continuous intake basis so you can start anytime (except for some teacher-led sciences). Learn more on the Academic Upgrading page.
Better Jobs Ontario is an Ontario government program that helps unemployed and underemployed workers train for new careers in growing areas of the economy.
The program provides up to $28,000 for assistance in paying for tuition, books and other instructional costs, transportation, childcare, and a basic living allowance. The program is a cost-sharing grant provided on the basis of need, so applicants may be asked to contribute to their training or education.
Interested in applying? You can contact your local Employment Service Provider (ESP) to determine whether you are eligible. Learn more about the program here.
