Better Jobs Ontario helps unemployed or underemployed people rejoin the workforce in less than 52 weeks. Eligible applicants receive skills training for in-demand jobs and financial support.
Better Jobs Ontario, formerly known as Second Career, is an Ontario government program that provides up to $28,000 for tuition, books and other instructional costs, transportation, childcare, disability-related supports, literacy and basic skills training, and a basic living allowance (up to $500 per week). The program is a cost-sharing grant based on need applicants may be asked to contribute to their training or education.
With fewer eligibility requirements than the former Second Career program, Better Jobs Ontario is helping more people train for new careers and find sustainable employment. A fast-track process is available for applicants laid off due to COVID-19.
