A Taste of Italy a resounding success

Published

A Taste of Italy, a fundraiser held at Fleming College on Jan. 25, was a resounding success with approximately 160 guests attending. Through their generosity a gross amount of $38,004, was raised at the event.

Co-hosted by Dr. Tony Tilly, Fleming College President, and Dean Del Mastro, Member of Parliament for Peterborough and presented by the Wolf 101.5FM, CHEX Television, and 100.5 Kruz FM, A Taste of Italy took place at the Sutherland Campus and featured the Food Network Canada’s Maggie McKeown of Recipe to Riches. The event offered an authentic five-course Italian feast, with wine pairings created by the students and faculty of Fleming’s culinary programs. The festivities also featured a dance and live auction.

Net funds raised from the event will go toward bursaries for students in culinary programs at the College and the Good Samaritan Hands-Up Foundation, a fund within the Community Foundation of Greater Peterborough, in support of the Kawartha Trades and Technology Centre at the College.

Special thanks go to 100-plus student volunteers from the culinary programs, as well as the many faculty and staff members who led the students through this hands-on learning experience.
