Alumni Appreciation Week: Celebrating the success of Fleming College graduates
Fleming College is set to celebrate Alumni Appreciation Week from Feb. 11-15, 2013. A variety of events will be held throughout the City of Peterborough and the City of Kawartha Lakes to honour Fleming College Alumni.
To mark the week, two kick-off events will be held on Feb. 11. The Peterborough kick-off will take place at 10 a.m. at the Ministry of Natural Resources. The City of Kawartha Lakes kick-off will take place at 2 p.m. at CKL Police Services.
To celebrate graduate success, the Alumni Relations Office will start accepting nominations on Feb. 11 for the prestigious 2013 Premier’s Awards for outstanding college graduates. Nominees must demonstrate outstanding achievements related to their college experience as well as significant contribution to their community. Any graduate of a Fleming College program may be nominated. For more details, contact Paula Walton at paulaw@flemingc.on.ca. Job Fairs will be open to all Fleming students and alumni from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Feb. 13 at the Sutherland Campus in Peterborough and Feb. 14 at the Frost Campus in Lindsay.
The winner of January’s Workplace Challenge will be announced on Tuesday, Feb. 12 and the winning workplace will receive a coffee break event for Fleming alumni.
On Valentine’s Day, alumni couples will be featured in the ‘Fleming Ever After’ photo album on Facebook. If you and your spouse are Fleming graduates, send a brief story of how you met along with a photo of you as a couple to alumni@flemingc.on.ca. Stories must be submitted by Feb. 12.
One of the most exciting events of the week is Fleming Night with the Peterborough Petes at the Memorial Centre on Feb. 14. Fleming alumni and staff are invited to attend a pre-game alumni networking dinner from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the PMC Grill and Pub located in the Memorial Centre. Contact Paula Walton to make a reservation. Seats are limited.
At 7 p.m. watch the Peterborough Petes face off against the Brampton Battalion. Tickets include a Fleming souvenir and entry into several draws throughout the game for great prizes. Spectators don’t want to miss the ceremonial puck drop or the intermission program that will feature special alumni guests. Last year over 600 students, staff, faculty and alumni attended Fleming Night with the Petes!
Tickets are on sale for $15 at the Sutherland and Frost bookstores or they can be ordered by contacting the Fleming College Alumni Relations Office at 705-749-5530 ext. 1390 or paulaw@flemingc.on.ca. A portion of the ticket sales will go to Habitat for Humanity. Buy your tickets today, they are going fast!
Fleming College is encouraging area businesses to celebrate Fleming graduates working in the community by posting a ‘shout out’ message on their outdoor and outdoor signs.
