Day of Pink Founder to Visit Fleming
Peterborough ON – March 10, 2010 – The founder of the Canadian Day of Pink campaign, Jeremy Dias, will be speaking at the Lindsay and Peterborough campuses of Fleming College. Day of Pink is an international movement to fight against bullying, discrimination and homophobia. It started in Nova Scotia after a boy was victimized for wearing a pink shirt to school. The student body came together and wore pink to show their support to him.Dias will be speaking to Fleming students and staff on Canada’s Youth Diversity Initiative. "Day of Pink founder Jeremy Dias has been so supportive of our actions and has really inspired Fleming students to step up as leaders, regardless of their sexual orientation, race or leadership experience," said organizer Debbie Harrison, Diversity Coordinator at Fleming College.Dias will be speaking on March 18 at the Frost Campus in Lindsay at 12 p.m. in the Auk’s Lodge and at the Sutherland Campus in Peterborough at 4 p.m. in room 301. Located in the heart of Central Ontario, Fleming College has campuses in Peterborough, Lindsay, Cobourg and Haliburton.
