Fleming College invites employees, students and the general public to the Sutherland Campus on Wednesday, November 12 and Thursday, November 13 for its Third Annual Fair Trade Sale with Ten Thousand Villages.This sale of unique, handcrafted gifts, including musical instruments, pottery, home décor, jewelry, toys and textiles, doesn’t come to Peterborough often. Ten Thousand Villages is a non-profit program of the Mennonite Central Committee that supports artisans in developing countries and is the oldest and largest fair trade retailer in North America. All proceeds from the sale are returned to Ten Thousand Villages to help improve the quality of life for people in Latin America, Africa and Asia.This year’s theme is “Fair Trade creates good climate” … ”You can be confident that everything at Ten Thousand Villages – from our recycled accessories and handmade paper products, to our reclaimed wood furniture – is produced in a sustainable manner by people who have safe working conditions and are paid a living wage.”This sale is also a significant event for the Fleming students who make it such a success.
