New full-time student registrations for September up 14 per centIt’s back to school today for Fleming College students and this year there will be hundreds more learners in the hallways. Enrolment at Fleming College has leapt 14 per cent among incoming students.With final numbers to be confirmed at the end of the registration period, the college is predicting the double-digit jump in registration for first-year students with more than 3,300 new students starting classes this week. This comes on the heels of a 29 per cent increase in new students starting in the summer semester while first year fall intake has risen 29 per cent over the last three years.While all areas of study have seen enrolment increases, two that have seen phenomenal growth are Fleming’s School of Environmental and Natural Resource Sciences at the Frost Campus and the School of Continuing Education and Skilled Trades, with first year registrations up by more than 30 per cent in each school.New programs such as Electrical Engineering Technician, Blasting Techniques and Fitness and Health Promotion have helped to boost enrolment.Fleming College also has more than 375 Second Career students registered to start classes today.
