The Haliburton School of the Arts opens registration on March 1, 2012 for its renowned summer school programs. Since 1967, the school has offered unique arts courses that entice more than 3, 500 individuals to register each summer.

Nestled in the Haliburton Highlands, the school offers more than 350 courses and workshops for summer 2012. Beginners, professionals, individuals and families can be immersed in a rich experience that can be energizing or reflective and relaxing. The 2012 course calendar features painting, pottery, photography, glassblowing, doll making, writing, jewellery, guitar, ukulele, sculpture, a youth course on building a skateboard deck, and more.

“It’s so much more than just an art school. The mix of ages, techniques, skill levels and extra-curricular activities generates a creative energy that new students marvel at and returning students look forward to being a part of each year,” says Shelley Schell, the coordinator of the summer program. “Beyond the classroom doors there are gallery receptions, art talks, walk-about exhibitions, entertainment and instructor features. The local galleries, shops, summer theatre and Haliburton Sculpture Forest play a significant role in a creative immersion in the Haliburton Highlands.”
