Culinary competition to raise funds for student tour of EuropeParticipate in an evening of culinary excellence as five teams of local chefs and students go head-to-head in competition to prepare a five-course meal for your enjoyment.The Kawartha Cast Iron Chef and Culympics Competition Dinner will take place Wednesday, March 4 at Fulford’s Dining Room at the Sutherland Campus, 599 Brealey Dr. in Peterborough. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. with dinner served at 6 p.m. The students will be competing in several culinary arts categories including fruit and vegetable carving, fat sculpting, hot and cold appetizer, entrée and desert preparation.The event is a fundraiser for culinary students at Fleming. The students are participating in a 12-day European culinary tour visiting Italy, Germany, and Switzerland in October 2009. Proceeds from the dinner will go toward the students’ tour participation fees.Tickets are $75 per couple and are available through Fulford’s – 705-749-5530 x 1487 or email nwood@flemingc.on.caFleming’s cluster of culinary programs features extensive hands-on learning taught by renowned chefs – experts in their field.
