New Continuing Education calendar for fall

Published

Fleming College’s fall Continuing Education calendar is now available and there are a range of new and returning courses in all subject areas at all of our campus locations.

And for the first time, students can schedule all of their courses from fall through winter to spring, which is especially beneficial to those working toward the completion of a certificate.

Photography and film continue to be popular leisure courses. Photographic Intensives, Exploring Your Camera, and Exploring Photographic Styles are just a few of the courses available to shutterbugs. A special one-day workshop offered in both Peterborough and Lindsay, Spectacular Fall Colours Photography, will take all levels of photography students outside to capture beautiful fall colours.

Video and Filmmaking: an Introduction explores the basics of shooting and editing digital video while a one-day workshop, The Look of Film, examines the director’s vision and how it translates to the screen. This course is taught by one of Canada’s foremost production designers, James McAteer (Good Will Hunting, A History of Violence).

After a successful debut last year, the Haliburton School of The Arts is once again bringing its series of popular one-day workshops to Peterborough this fall. The workshops feature a variety of media including felting; jewellery; braided mats; mosaics; watercolour, pen and ink; and abstract art. Notable courses include, Garden Design with Belinda Gallagher, former Head of Horticulture at the Royal Botanical Gardens in Hamilton, Ontario, Wood Bending with Michael Fortune, one of Canada’s most respected and creative contemporary furniture masters, and Blues Guitar Workshop with Juno-nominated Rick Fines, one of Canada’s leading blues, roots music and slide guitarists.

For individuals seeking professional development opportunities, there are a range of certificate programs and courses available in business, health care, languages and communication, and outdoor/environmental.

Business: The Leadership Development Series offers managers (or those aspiring to management) courses such as Employment Law, Project Management, Finance, Human Relations, and Performance Management.
