Recycle old batteries and help the Kawartha Turtle Trauma Centre
The Fleming College community is invited to drop off old batteries in a bin set up in the main foyer of the Sutherland Campus.
Stewardship Ontario will donate 30 cents to the Kawartha Turtle Trauma Centre for every dry cell battery dropped off at the campus from now until Nov. 3. This includes AA, AAA, C, D, 9V and button cell batteries. (Rechargeable Ni-Cad, Ni-MH, Lithium-Ion batteries will not raise money, but will be dropped off at a local Hazardous Waste Depot.)
This means for every 1000 batteries collected, $300 will be donated directly to the Kawartha Turtle Trauma Centre.
It’s a great way to help support a local cause and get rid of old batteries lying around the house. This is a win-win for everyone involved.
Ask your family, ask your friends, and ask your neighbours. Bring the batteries in and drop them off in the bin on their behalf. Together, everyone can make a difference and support turtle rehabilitation.
