Peterborough ON – (November 3, 2010) – Fleming College is inviting the public to attend the second annual Fleming Electrical Safety Symposium, which will feature a keynote address from Dr. Joel Fish, Medical Director of the Hospital for Sick Children Burn Centre. With interesting guest speakers as well as information on electrical safety, the symposium will be held Wednesday, Nov. 10, 3 to 5 p.m. at Sutherland Campus, 599 Brealey Dr. in Peterborough. Industry exhibitors and vendors will be on campus, in the main foyer, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Electrical Safety Symposium is an opportunity for electrical workers and students to obtain information and insights on electrical safety from industry experts.Speakers:• Steve Whitehill, Fire Prevention Captain of the Peterborough Fire Department, will share his experiences in fire investigation, fire inspection and fire code compliance.• Gavan Howe of Howe Brand Communications/ebranders.com will speak to his experiences and research as president and CEO of one of Canada’s leading risk and safety communications firms.• KEYNOTE ADDRESS: Dr. Joel Fish, Medical Director of the Hospital for Sick Children Burn Centre. Dr. Fish was medical director of the Worker’s Compensation Burn Specialty program for many years and specializes in rehabilitation as it relates to burns and serious wound problems within the scope of plastic surgery. Dr. Fish will speak on electrical injury prognosis and therapy.
