Upcoming live chat session on new Sustainable Agriculture program
Fleming College will host a live online chat session on Thursday, Oct. 29 to provide information and answer questions on its new Sustainable Agriculture program. The live chat, which will take place on the college’s website www.flemingcollege.ca, will be hosted by the program’s developer Helen Knibb. Anyone interested in finding out more about the program is invited to log on any time between 5 and 8 p.m. that day. The innovative one year, three-semester, post-graduate certificate program will be hosted at the Frost Campus and is designed for new and beginner farmers seeking an intensive, applied learning experience in sustainable, ecological, organic or natural farming. Farming practices in the program are based on environmental stewardship, social responsibility, community health and the capacity for farmers to create a dependable income.Within the program, students learn principles and practices of sustainable agriculture, small farm operations, and explore the emergence of niche markets. Students will also examine strategies for direct marketing and new farm business models.The Frost Campus, home to the School of Environmental and Natural Resource Sciences, serves about 1,400 full-time students. It has prepared graduates for entry into careers in the environment and natural resources sector for more than 40 years.
