Music - Guitar II

Course Code: ARTS2811

This course has been designated at an intermediate level. An expectation of beginner-level knowledge is needed for these courses. Please read course descriptions carefully to determine if this course is right for you.
This week-long course is designed to build on material learned in Guitar I (previously Beginner Guitar Level I) or for players with some experience. Students should have a good command of the first position major and minor scales, open chord shapes, strumming patterns in 4/4 time and be able to play a four-string version of the F major chord. Students should also be familiar with guitar music as it is written in either standard notation or TAB. During the week you can expect to broaden your understanding of the fundamentals of acoustic guitar playing including expanded chord voicings, barre chords, fingerstyle playing, Travis-style picking, scale work and more. Repertoire will be selected to apply the concepts overviewed in the course.
