Musical Songbirds - An Unconventional Choir Workshop

Course Code: ARTS2903

This course is welcome to all levels. Anyone can take these courses if interested. Beginner-level instruction will be provided for basic skills while more advanced users can work on more complex projects with instructor assistance.
Reading music is not a requirement for participation.
This one-day Songbird choir will embody practices from Musica do Circulo (Music of the Circle), a Brazilian methodology that uses improvisation, body percussion, non-verbal communication, movement and play to uncover spontaneous and joyful music that fosters a sense of community. Sing in harmony with others as you explore music that engages with themes of social justice, equity, and action across multiple styles such as pop, reggae, calypso and Brazilian. Learn to find more space in choral settings. Space for improvisation, movement, and deeper connections through music over note perfection.
