Writing - Manuscript Editing

Course Code: ARTS2819

This course is welcome to all levels. Anyone can take these courses if interested. Beginner-level instruction will be provided for basic skills while more advanced users can work on more complex projects with instructor assistance.
You did it! The first draft of your manuscript is finished. Before you hit send to potential publishers, the editing process ensures a clean copy of your book. Collaborate with the instructor and other writers to achieve a story that will engage readers, without the distractions of errors. A structural story edit looks at plot, characters, setting and flow. A line edit focuses on tone, style, and consistency. Copyediting corrects grammar, spelling, and punctuation. Other considerations before you publish: title, cover, blurbs, print size, acknowledgments, author bio, and marketing. This course will offer new insights to deepen your understanding of literary excellence. It will help you recognize your own strengths as well as the potential for improvement. Bring a printed copy of your manuscript or an electronic version on the first day of the course.
