Rebecca Tripp is a three-time Fleming grad and Founder of The Immigration & Paralegal Law Office of Rebecca B. Tripp. Having completed the General Arts & Science University Transfer program in 2013, she went on to Trent University to complete her Bachelors in International Development Studies and History in 2015. After one year of working full time, she decided to return to Fleming for the Paralegal/Law Clerk Dual Diploma program. Now, she is a duly licensed Paralegal by the Law Society of Ontario and by the Immigration Consultants of Canada Regulatory Council (ICCRC) as a Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultant (RCIC).

In Rebecca’s opinion, her education created her career path, rather than influenced it. When she started her post-secondary education in 2012, law wasn’t even on her radar. Like most things in life, it is the small daily decisions that can lead to life changes. For Rebecca, it was a sociology class at Fleming that covered international development, that led her to study this at Trent University. Then, at Trent she took a Law Rights & Development course which ignited an interest in immigration law and led her right back to Fleming to pursue her Paralegal and Law Clerk schooling.

Rebecca’s experience at Fleming was challenging, in a good way. She was learning something new every day and being pushed outside of her comfort zone. Public speaking was a fear, but during her time at Fleming she learned to embrace the challenge and grew to enjoy it. She is still connected to the College, hiring one placement student in the Spring of 2021 and would like to offer more placement opportunities in the future, to provide a fulfilling and immersive experience for students in the paralegal field.

Her message for entrepreneurs that are looking to chase their dream of opening a business is “Go for it! There will never be a “perfect” time to start. There will always be roadblocks in the way and challenges to overcome, but if you keep on dreaming about it, you will eventually find a way to make it work. The great part about being an entrepreneur is that you call all the shots. You can make it whatever you want it to be so find motivation in that and just pull the trigger!”
