Fibre Arts - Stitched Birds

This course has been designated as an intermediate/advanced level. These courses may branch into more advanced technical skills, so a minimum of beginner level of knowledge and skill is required. Please read course descriptions as they may list some skills you need to participate in the course instruction.
Learn how to use your basic domestic sewing machine as a creative, free stitching drawing tool through making unique bird inspired works in textiles. Using sampling, the many mark making, texture and pattern creating possibilities will be explored. This will include experimenting with embroidery, cutwork, applique, quilting and creating fabric with thread. These samples will inform the individual bird making projects within this course. Learn how to gather inspiration, develop ideas, construct and finish work. Stitch soft sculpture and two-dimensional birds that are completely unique and personal. Emphasis is on developing skills and ideas at your own pace and level within a playful and supportive environment.
