Sebastien Duchange

Sebastien Duchange, born in France, grew up in the glassmaking city of Saint-Gobain. As a furnce glassmaker and flameworker, he trained first at the European Center for Research and Training in Glass Arts in France (1998-2000) and later did a stint at the International Center for Research on Glass and Plastic Arts (CIRVA) in Marseille. His whimsical conceptual blown glass pieces have been presented at numerous exhibitions in North America and Europe. Sebastien Duchange was twice a finalist at the Francois-Houde prize which was awarded by the City of Montreal together with the Conseil des metiers d'art du Quebec (2010 and 2011). In 2015 the Conseil des metiers d'art du Quebec awarded him the Jean-Marie-Gauvreau prize. His works are in a variety of private and public collections, including those of the Claridge Foundation, the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, The Quebec Museum of Fine Art, Espace Verre (Montreal) The Nancy Museum of Fine Art and Malou Georges-Majerus in Luxembourg. Duchange has been living and working in Canada since 2005. He installed his studio in the Ottawa area to create, teach and get involved in the art community.
