Course Code: ARTS2702
This course is welcome to all levels. Anyone can take these courses if interested. Beginner-level instruction will be provided for basic skills while more advanced users can work on more complex projects with instructor assistance.
Penny rugs are thought to date back to the 1700s. Homemakers would cut scraps of wool and felt from old clothing into circular shapes using coins. These fabric circles would be layered and stitched to make decorative pieces of art for the home. You will design your own unique pillow, table runner or wall art by cutting concentric circles from beautiful wool fabric provided by the instructor. A simple blanket stitch and embroidery thread will be used to attach the pennies to a backing. You can choose to embellish your piece with buttons or beads. All materials will be provided for the workshop, just bring a sharp pair of scissors.
Some courses require additional textbooks and/or materials. Please visit your campus store in-person or online:
