Mosaic Art

Course Code: ARTS2871

This course is welcome to all levels. Anyone can take these courses if interested. Beginner-level instruction will be provided for basic skills while more advanced users can work on more complex projects with instructor assistance.
Using broken plates/crockery, stained glass, or found materials, this course will guide you through your creative journey in mosaic art. You will create unique pieces, using techniques such as glass on glass and/or pique assiette (stolen dishes) mosaics. Throughout the course you will be guided in the process of working with pieces of stained glass or broken dishes to create your own design on substrates (bases) such as wood planks, frames, MDF shapes, glass candle holders, vases etc. Learn the process of preparation, design, cutting, assembly, grouting and cleaning your art pieces to be display ready. You are encouraged to bring broken dishes, a frame or object that you would like to repurpose or decorate. Supplies will also be provided. A $75 material fee is payable to the instructor on the first day.
