This course is welcome to all levels. Anyone can take these courses if interested. Beginner-level instruction will be provided for basic skills while more advanced users can work on more complex projects with instructor assistance.
Versatile, resilient, and almost pure pigment, pastels reflect the light like a prism and can satisfy any creative drive. Whatever your preferred subject matter when drawing with pastels, learn to push your drawings to new heights using a variety of techniques, surfaces, and different kinds of soft pastels. Learn to create customized supports tailored to your expressive needs, to incorporate pastels into mixed media works, and how to layer them into impasto-like paintings. Instruction will provide a sound basis in drawing skills and colour knowledge, which can be applied to other mediums as well. Drawing sessions will be conducted both in-studio and outdoors, weather permitting.
