This course has been designated at a beginner/intermediate level. These courses may branch into skill building beyond the beginner level, but the faculty member is also willing to take on students with no previous skills.
This course provides a professional introduction to the art of leatherworking. Leatherworking encompasses a wide range of skills that will allow you to channel your creativity through a medium that is long-lasting, sustainable, and versatile. You will learn leather theory, how to cut, dye, identify, and mould leather, tool use and safety, preparation of traditional waxed thread, how to thin/skive leather, make and interpret templates. Over the week acquire the knowledge to make a variety of objects start to finish. This course requires no previous experience.
